I enjoy Cava's, so a sparkling Pinot Noir from Spain is the drink of choice for Honey Day 2010. Segura Viudas sparkling Pinot Noir , copious strawberry colored bubbles in a flute with candlelight just right. Aria has rich fruity aromas,I love the light sweet taste of raspberries and ripe currants it is sure to please. Dessert is where Aria shines, delicious when paired with rich chocolate cake, it is subtle enough to accompany my wife's Homemade biscotti. Ninety points in Wine and Spirits, a festive bottle with a red foil top, so all you need is a card. So chill it and enjoy because "It's Wine o'clock in Maine".

Sunday River wine find
I hope this Maine winter has inspired all to try the amazing choices we have in the wine world!
The subject of skiing and Maine's slopeside wine hotspots bring's me to Sunday River. The wines trailside are limited in choice and quality, a look at the list shows a close relationship to the Gallo family of wines. I suggest a short drive or bus ride down the access road to Liam's Restaurant. Liam's menu boasts a wonderful choice of comfort foods, pizza to lobster stew cooked by chef/owner Will. The wine menu is both diverse and enjoyable designed to have a wine for every palate and pocketbook. Liam's has fruit forward Sauvignon Blanc from Chili, rich Macabeo/Chard from Spain , New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc crisp with grapefruit, and fresh Pinot Grigio from Italy. Awesome reds for the winter season include, Pinot Noir from California, C'est la vie Pinot Noir/Syrah from France, Plummy Shiraz from Australia, rich Cianti's from Italy and great choice of Cabernet Sauvignon's including a favorite of mine Silver Palm . It is evident time has been spent tasting and matching great value wines with Will's delightful creations. Thankfully it's "Wine o'clock in Maine"

pinot Noir on a cold Maine night
The cat hit done and I wasn't. The winemaker for Castle Rock is the famous August Briggs. Mr Briggs is a busy man, twenty percent of all Pinot in California is produced under his watchful eye, or at least with some level of involvement. This is the kind of genius that is in the Castle Rock Pinot Noir. Price in the 16.99 area . It's wine o'clock somewhere! Thanks
Pinot Noir on a cold Maine
Hi been awhile since last blog. I assure you it's not from lack of inspiration.
Russian River California home to some of my favorite Chardonnays, also boasts grapes for Castle Rock Reserve Pinot Noir. Castle Rock Pinot starts with grapes selected for uniform ripeness, gently pressed and barrel fermented like a baby in French oak for 9 months. This small production reserve has aromas and flavors of plum, cherry, vanilla and cinnamon. The flavors are supple and layered and have supple velvety mouthfeel ,the long finish says"get that last drop".

wine o'clock in Me
Hey great day. Sun is high in sky I'm drinking white . "Tapena", Verdajo from Spain is an appealing white , a blend of Verdajo and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, mmmm floral aromas, with ripe pear and sweet fig flavors leading to a lingering aftertaste. The Verdajo wine is popular in Spain with the bistro hopping , tapas(small plates communal style) crowd. Pena is slang for a group of close friends. Tapena is the ideal compliment for an evening of food and conversation among close friends. The price at 7.99 won't break the bank.
It's always wine o'clock somewhere!!

wine o'clock in Me
I am inspired to write a blog about wine because I am lucky enough to sample wines every day, and think the stories in wine will be great to share. I will strive to inform and tempt my fellow bloggers. My wines are mostly made from single vineyard grapes ,estate bottled. Tonight I am drinking "Terra Andina" Sauvignon Blanc from Chili. The Italian winemaker believes in fruit forward, balanced wines that compliment food. Ripe and pure crisp tangerine and peach flavors, no oak, stainless steel fermentation delivers a wonderfully soft clean taste. I am eating spicy scallop sushi rolls, the wine pairs very well with spicy foods and seafood. Terra Andina website is all about fun, sun and the natural beauty that is Chili. Price is reasonable @8.99 per 750ml.
Its always Wine o'clock somewhere!! Stay well!
